Meet David Hancock

David is a Charles County native and grew up on his family farm in La Plata, Maryland. He had the good fortune of meeting his wife Kim and the couple has been blessed with three children. Kim is a Charles County Public School Teacher. David owns Hancock Family Farms where he and Kim raise and sell produce and meats.

David is a natural leader. He is an active member of the community and has served as the President of the Charles County Farm Bureau for five years. He also serves on the University of Maryland Extension Advisory Council for Charles County.

In his leadership positions and as a small business owner, David has experience in managing people, balancing budgets and making tough decisions. He believes strongly in a collaborative process, transparency in organizations and strong fiscal responsibility.

Two of David's children are also in the Charles County Public School system. His ties to the community and direct connection to the school system are what sparked his desire to run for the Board of Education.

"The public education system is the largest item in the Charles County budget. We're looking after the most precious people in the county. We have a responsibility to make sure that tax dollars are being managed properly for the benefit of our students, our teachers and the community as a whole."
